Visit four historic barns with Prof. Tom Hubka, educator and author of Big House, Little House, Back House, Barn, Don Perkins, local writer and barn researcher, and quilt historian and lecturer, Kathy Kenny. At each barn we will display one or more antique quilts from the same era as the barn. Discussions will include farmstead and barn development, how quilt patterns reflect their times, and more! We’ll conclude the tour with cider and fiddle music at Houses & Barns by John Libby! Tickets are $25.00 and reservations are required. Reserve now as we expect this unique event to sell out early.
The tour begins with coffee and pastries at Cotton Weeds Quilt Shop in Freeport. It ends with fiddle music, cider, and conversation at Houses & Barns by John Libby.
You also have the opportunity to have a quilt or quilts verbally appraised. Certified Quilt Appraiser Bonnie Dwyer will verbally appraise quilts for $15 each. If you are not participating in the tour, you can still have your quilt verbally appraised by Bonnie. Bring your quilt to Houses & Barns by John Libby from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged. If you are participating in the tour, you can have your quilt appraised after conclusion of the tour. Either way, call 865-3170 to reserve your spot or send your payment using our Online Donation button. Payment in advance is required.
