Stories of Freeport’s Past: Celebrating Our Collections – Exhibit Opening

This exhibit will showcase objects that tell an interesting story, for example the top hat of Freeport entrepreneur E.B. Mallet who developed Freeport Village in the late 19th century by building a shoe factory, and opening a granite quarry, sawmill, and brickyard to encourage industrial production. In addition to these strongly "storied" artifacts, you will see objects donated by families in town who do not often see their items on view, as well as some "mystery" objects--- items that are…

Thursday, April 20, 7:00pm Freeport Community Library Written & performed by Charles W. Stockbridge Charles Stockbridge is an experienced lecturer on the founding of the first United States currency and the restoration of the public credit put forth by Alexander Hamilton in 1790. In this play, Mr. Stockbridge reenacts Hamilton in period attire. The setting is December 23rd, 1800 and the political atmosphere is charged with a dead-locked ballot for the Presidency: Thomas Jefferson versus Aaron Burr.
